ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 – Sri Lanka vs Netherlands, 9th Match, Group A Preview

Sri Lanka is facing a hard time as Dishan Madushanka was ruled out before the first match due to torn quadriceps. Dushmantha Chameera has joined the queue as he is out from the game due to a calf injury. Moreover, Danushka Gunathilaka and Pramod Madushan are also suffering from hamstring injury and the decision of them to play the match is yet to be decided.

The victory in today’s match is crucial for the Asia Cup champions, Sri Lanka. Otherwise, they’ll be out of the World Cup; they wouldn’t be in this situation if they hadn’t lost the match to Namibia in the tournament opener.

Dasun Shanaka had managed the situation beautifully and stated,’There is no pressure at all. We just need to concentrate on our own performances and what we need to do to make sure that we get into that second round. In the first game we didn’t execute, so we got beaten by Namibia. But we are a far better team than the way we performed in that game.”

Since the opening match, Netherlands has won both of their matches against UAE and Namibia. Despite winning the matches, the Dutch have played at the lowest run rate among the top three.

It would be intriguing to watch the rivalry between the Asia Cup champions and two times World Cup qualifier’s winners.
