On 19 January, Glenn Maxwell broke the record of his teammate Marcus Stoinis. In a match between Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes, he scored 154* runs in 64 balls and hit 22 fours and 4 sixes. Glenn maxwell is at top in scoring most run with 154*in 64 balls against Hobart Hurricanes.

Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and elected to field first, but Melbournes opener Glenn Maxwell and Joe Clarke proved them wrong. They gave a strong start, and Joe Clark got out with a score of 97. Later Marcus Stoinis and Maxwell hit the ball all over the park. Marcus Stoinis scored 75* runs in 31 balls, and Maxwell scored 154* runs in 64 balls and breaks the record of Marcus Stoinis. Ironically, Stoinis was at the non-striker end when he was breaking his record.

In response, Hobart Hurricanes scored only 167 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 106 runs. Ben McDermott, D’Arcy Short, and Peter Handscomb scored 55, 41, and 28 runs respectively.
