At  Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, the teams Kandy Falcons and Galle Gladiators came against each other for the 9th match of the Lanka Premier League 2022. 

Galle Gladiators won the toss and opted to bat first and Thanuka Dabare and Kusal Mendis came to the crease on the bowling attack of Udana. In the 2nd over only, Brathwaite shocked Mendis, taking his wicket and the right-handed batter, Lahiru Udara came to the middle. 

In the 3rd over, Udara bought the first boundary and immediately lost his wicket to Udana. By the end of the over, Galle Gladiators got a score of 10 with a loss of 2 wickets. 

Kandy Falcons kept their bowling tight and dismissed more batters in the next overs. In the 5th over from Udana, Fernando hit a cracking shot for a four and the side jumped to a score of 19-4. 

In the 7th over, Dabare smacked two huge back-to-back sixes and the side got to a score of 40-4. With Dabare and Fernando on the pitch, Galle Gladiators crossed the half-century with a score of 56-4 after 9 overs. 

Hitting multiple fours and sixes, Feranando reached their 50-run run stand and the side crossed the century, standing at a score of 107-4 after 15 overs. Adding 56 runs in 50 balls, he lost his wicket to Udana. 

On the over from Zahoor Khan, Dabare bought one boundary while Wasim nailed two fours and a six and the side jumped to a score of 144-5. 

In 20 overs, Galle Gladiators posted 153 runs with a loss of 6 wickets.

For the run chase of 154, Nissanka and Fletcher came to the middle while Imad Wasim came on the opening bowling attack. In the 2nd over, Fletcher smacked the first boundary for the side and the side got a score of 12 after 3 overs.

N Thushara took the first wicket of Fletcher and the left-handed batter, Mendis took the batting charge. After 5 overs, KDF got to a score of 21-1 after 5 overs. With Nissanka standing tough on the pitch, KDF reached the half-century with a score of 50-3 after 10 overs.  

Adding 29 runs in 32 balls for the side, Nissanka lost his wicket to Sandakan. After 13 overs, the side jumped to a score of 63-5. In the 15th over, the score was 76-6. However, KDF showed some intent to win the game but could only manage to score 141-7 in 20 overs, losing the match by 12 runs.
