FIFA World Cup 2022 Final: Argentina vs France Preview

Argentina vs France will happen in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Final and the world is waiting for this breath-taking play off at Lusail Stadium, Qatar.  The prized golden trophy has been won by both countries twice in history. When they took home the title in the previous competition, Les Bleus got their hands on it more lately. Contrarily, La Albiceleste last took first place in the match in 1986. Following that, the Argentinians made it to the final twice, but they went home with silver medals. Lionel Messi will play his final World Cup match against Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain in this tournament.

Three World Cup matches between the two teams have taken place. The first encounter occurred in 1930 at the inaugural FIFA World Cup. Argentina won 1-0 over France in the Group 1 match in Brazil. La Albiceleste and Les Bleus met again in Group 1 for the 1978 competition’s second match, which the former won once more. The result this time was 2-1. In their third and most recent meeting, which occurred in the Round of 16 of the 2018 competition, France finally broke their losing streak against the Latin Americans with a stunning 4-3 victory.

Argentina rebounded admirably from a disastrous start to the season to advance to their first World Cup final since 2014. The last time Argentina reached the finals was when they defeated West Germany in the competition’s final in Mexico 36 years ago. Prior to that, La Albiceleste overcame the Dutch in a contentious championship match in their own backyard in 1978.

Argentina has so far been fairly impressive in this World Cup following their early blip against Saudi Arabia. La Albiceleste has won one game on penalties and four wins in regulation during the past five contests. Messi and company have scored 12 goals and given up five in the last six games. Additionally, they have recorded three clean sheets, the most recent of which came against Croatia in the semifinal.

France, like Argentina, has only lost once so far in the competition, and that defeat was against Tunisia in the final group stage match, where the defending champions fielded a reserve team. The French have been unbeatable except from that. They have 13 goals for and five goals against. France’s lone clean sheet was during their 2-0 semifinal victory over Morocco.

Team News: According to reports, a few members of the French team may have the flu. Due to illness, Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot were absent from the previous game. For the championship game, either player may rejoin the team. Alejandro Gomez, who is dealing with an ankle ailment, is the only player Argentina could be missing at the moment.
