International League T20: MI Emirates Got a Comprehensive 6-Wickets Win Over Sharjah Warriors
It was the 6th match of ILT20 played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. MIE won the toss and opted to bowl first. Gurbaz and Kohler came at the crease while Boult began the bowling attack. However, Gurbaz 15 (9) got early dismissal by Boult but then Malan and Kohler built a solid partnership and put 87 runs in 10 overs. However, Malan then got holed out by Bravo in the 11th over and later he was joined by Moeen Ali. Tahir stroke twice after the drinks as he dismissed Kohler 55 (41). Sharjah kept losing its warriors within a single-digit score. After 15 overs, the score was 109-6. In 20 overs, Sharjah could manage to put 146-7.
Although Sharjah scored 24 runs off the final two overs, they will be unhappy with their effort. Tom Kohler-fifty Cadmore’s helped them get off to a strong start after being given the opportunity to bat. They were in a great position midway through. However, MI Emirates retaliated with the help of two T20 aces, Bravo and Tahir, who not only slowed down the scoring rate but also took wickets. Tahir got rid of the half-centurion as Bravo broke the fifty-year partnership. The Warriors fell from 87/1 to 119/7 in the course of seven overs as they shared five wickets between them. The hosts reached a total of close to 150 thanks to Paul Walter’s appearance in the ending phase.
In the run chase, Will Smeed and Muhammad Waseem open the batting attack while Naveen-Ul-Haq opened the bowling attack. The duo put 36 runs on scoreboard before Will Smeed departed at 29 off 17 balls on a fine delivery by Junaid Siddique. Fletcher and Waseem were giving a rigid foundation to the MIE’s innings and together put 63 runs in 8 overs. However, Fletcher got run out. After 10 overs, the score was 70-2. Emirates consistently exceeded the requested price. Nabi was involved in two dismissals; he first ran Fletcher out before nipping out Muhammad Waseem, who appeared to be in good shape. Pooran and Pollard of the West Indies attacked the Sharjah bowlers just as the Warriors were considering making a comeback in the game. The latter struck two enormous sixes before going out with 8 runs still needed to win. While Pooran stayed till the very end, the Emirates managed to reach their target of 147 with 17 balls remaining.
MI Emirates won by 6 wickets and continues their winning momentum in the tournament.
