International League T20: Dubai Capitals Knocked Out Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by 7 Wickets

In the 22nd match of ILT20, Dubai Capitals squared off with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. DCP won the toss and invited ADKR to bat first. Stirling and Joe Clarke came to open the batting attack. It was a batting surface and the high-scoring match was anticipated today but ADKR couldn’t do much justice to it. While Joe Clarke, Paul Stirling’s partner, played his shots, Stirling was eliminated without scoring. He used the ramps and scoop while he was occupied in the crease to quickly reach 50. However, the arrival of Zampa caused things to sluggishly as the leggie eliminated Clarke and subsequently Brandon King. As the middle-order of ADKR failed to capitalise to that start, things really slowed down after that. Sunil Narine’s cameo at the very end was necessary to give them a respectable score, but they still believe it to be below par score of 149-9. This wasn’t a surface at which you lose 9 wickets.

In the run chase, Dubai got a better start and ADKR couldn’t make a comeback in the game right from the beginning of the second innings. Early on, Dickwella heated up as he pummelling Kumara, another teammate. After the powerplay, he retired, but George Munsey assumed leadership. He pounced on Narine, taking 16 off his opening over. The Scottish batsman scored a magnificent fifty runs but was unable to bat until the end because he edged a ball to the keeper. Rovman Powell supplied the final touches with some fantastic sixes after Shanaka’s amusing appearance. Dubai Capitals easily reached the target of 150 in 17.4 overs, losing just 3 wickets. Munsey scored 57 off 43 while Dickwella added 37 (22) and Shanaka put 28 off 22 to help DCP outperform ADKR and knock them out of the tournament!
