Bangladesh Premier League: Chattogram Challengers Edged Out Dhaka Dominators by 8 Wickets
In the 12th Match of BPL 2023, Chattogram Challengers and Dhaka Dominators came head-to-head and the toss favoured Dhaka Dominators and they opted to bat first. Usman Ghani and Mizanur Rahman batted first for DHDM and the duo gave a steady start to the team. The score was 59-0 in 9 overs. However, in the 10th over, Rahman to caught out at 28 (33). Dhaka lost three quick wickets after a 60-run opening stand, but the captain Nasir Hossain and Ariful Haque did well to salvage the innings with useful cameos in the end. After 16 overs, the score was 120-4. After 20 overs, DHDM could manage to put 158-6.
The second half presented a test for the bowlers because the ball was staying low but there appeared to be a lot of dew on the outfield. CGC sent Usman Khan and Al-Amin to begin the run chase and Taskin Ahmed opened the attack for the bowling side. Taskin clean bowled Al-Amin at a 0 (1) in the very second ball of the over. In the powerplay, CGC put 50-1 and got a steady start during the chase. Afif Hossain and Usman Khan kept scoring boundaries on regular intervals in every over. But, Usman Khan gave his wicket to Arafat Sunny at 22 (21). In 10 overs, the score was 83-2 and Darwish Rasooli and Afif Hossain were on the crease.
After finishing the 16th over with 19 off of 25, Rasooli went 4 6 6 1 6 4 6 4 for 37 off of his final 8 balls. In the powerplay, Afif Hossain played the enforcer, but Rasooli ultimately lost his mind. Throughout the chase, they didn’t appear to be in any trouble, and the dew factor was also a role.
CGC completed the run chase with 8 wickets in hand within 17.4 overs.
