Knockout Big Bash League 2022-23: Brisbane Beats Melbourne Renegades by 7 Wickets

The knockout match of Big Bash League 2022-23 was held between Melbourne Renegades and  Brisbane Heat on 29 January 2023 at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne. Brisbane Heat won the toss and opted to field first.

The first inning started with Shaun Marsh and Guptill at the crease, and Neser opened the attack. Guptill lost his early wicket in the 2nd over at 1(2). While on the other hand, Shaun Marsh and Sam Harper hit excellent boundaries and took the team Melbourne Renegades to 52 runs with a loss of a single wicket.

Xavier dismissed Sam Harper in the 9th over, and he was caught out at 22(21). In 10 overs, the Sham Marsh and Aaron Finch settled to the field and hit 77 runs in total with a loss of 2 wickets. Finch looked forward to hitting a good run score, but Neser dismissed him in the 12th over, while on the other hand, Shaun Marsh crossed his fifty in the same over.

The 84 runs partnership between Shaun Marsh and Mathew Citchley ended when Xavier Bartlett dismissed Critchley in the 16th over at 23(18). Jonathan and Shaun Marshley finished the first inning with 162/5 and set a target of 163 runs in front of Brisbane Heat.

The second inning started with Khawaja and Josh Born at the crease, and Tom Rogers opened the attack. The openers played well and put the team to 45 runs in 6 overs. David Moody dismissed the first wicket of the second inning in the 9th over, and Josh Brown was gone after 39(27).

In 10 overs, Brisbane Heat reached 82 runs with a loss of  1 wicket. Usman Khwaja reached his 50 in the 13th over with an outstanding six. However, Tom Rogers dismissed him in the 16th over, and Usman was gone at 59(47). Sam Hain and Matt Renshaw gave the last touch to the match and finished with 16/3 in 18.5 overs. With this, Brisbane won the match by 7 wickets.
