To open the 27 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 of NZ vs SL match, the captains of both the teams came up for the toss. New Zealand got a lead and elected to bat first.
Finn Allen and Conway came to the crease to unleash the batting with M Theekshana on the bowling attack. NZ had a poor start and lost their first wicket of Finn in the first over only. Conway lost another wicket in the 3rd over and Glenn Phillips smashed a beautiful four for the side and the team created a score of 11 after 3 overs after a loss of 2 wickets.
Allowing just 8 runs to Williamson, Rajitha took his wicket, who was caught out to Kusal Mendis. Glenn Phillips maintained his pace and their score moved up to 25-3 after 6 overs.
Tweaking the momentum in the game, Phillips crunched a wonderful six that helped his team cross the half-century, getting a score of 54-3 after 10 overs and New Zealand could only manage to get 25 runs in the powerplay. By the 14th over, Glenn easily got up to his 50.

With Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner on the pitch, New Zealand scored a total of 167 in 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets.
In the SL vs NZ match, Nissanka and Kusal Mendis rolled up their sleeves for the run chase of 168 to begin facing the bowling attack of Southee. The wicket down of Mendis to Boult was another loss for Sri Lanka and SL had just the score of 5 with a huge loss of 3 wickets after 2 overs.
