To open the 27 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 of NZ vs SL match, the captains of  both the teams came up for the toss. New Zealand got a lead and elected to bat first.

Finn Allen and Conway came to the crease to unleash the batting with M Theekshana on the bowling attack. NZ had a poor start and lost their first wicket of Finn in the first over only. Conway lost another wicket in the 3rd over and Glenn Phillips smashed a beautiful four for the side and the team created a score of 11 after 3 overs after a loss of 2 wickets.

Allowing just 8 runs to Williamson, Rajitha took his wicket, who was caught out to Kusal Mendis. Glenn Phillips maintained his pace and their score moved up to 25-3 after 6 overs.

Tweaking the momentum in the game, Phillips crunched a wonderful six that helped his team cross the half-century, getting a score of 54-3 after 10 overs and New Zealand could only manage to get 25 runs in the powerplay. By the 14th over, Glenn easily got up to his 50.

Posting 22 off 24, Mitchell got out to Hasaranga but New Zealand went up to crossing the century, getting a score of 102-4 after 15 overs. Glenn showed his power today and got caught out to Kumara after scoring 104 off 64, dragging the team to a significant strength.

With Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner on the pitch, New Zealand scored a total of 167 in 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets.

In the SL vs NZ match, Nissanka and Kusal Mendis rolled up their sleeves for the run chase of 168 to begin facing the bowling attack of Southee. The wicket down of Mendis to Boult was another loss for Sri Lanka and SL had just the score of 5 with a huge loss of 3 wickets after 2 overs.

With Rajpaksa on the pitch, there revived some hope among the Sri Lanka fans and the players as he stroked back to back four, six, and four in the 5th over and the score shifted to 20-4.

The duo of Shanka and Rajpaksa crossed the half-century, standing with a score of 52-5 after 9 overs. Adding 34 off 22, Rajapaksa lost his wicket to Ferguson and Wanindu Hasaranga took the batting charge but got an early dismissal.

Shanka managed to move up the score of his team to 64-7 after 12 overs. Shanaka stabilized the team by fueling 35 off 32 and lost his wicket to Boult. The side stood at a score of 93-9 after 17 overs.

Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha made some efforts in the last overs and got a total score of 102 in 19.2 overs, losing all wickets.

In the clash between SL and NZ, New Zealand won the match by 65 runs.
