At Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes met for the 4th match of the Big Bash League, 2022. 

On the ground, Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and opted to bowl first. Joe Clarke and Thomas Rogers came to the middle on the bowling attack of Joel Paris. In the first over only, Rogers bought the first boundary for the side while Clarke bought the first six for the side, getting to a score of 17 after 2 overs. 

In the 3rd over, Rogers and Clarked paired up to get two boundaries and a six on the throw from Joel Paris. After 5 overs, the duo helped the side to cross the half-century with a score of 51. 

Scoring 20 runs in 13 balls, Rogers lost his wicket to Shadab Khan and the right-handed batter, Beau Webster took the batting charge. In the 12th over from Meredith, Webster crunched two fours and a six, lost his wicket to Meredith after scoring 24 runs in 22 balls. 

With Clarke standing tough for the side, MLS crossed the century, standing at a score of 105-2 after 12 overs. Clarke kept smacking more boundaries in the next overs. In the 18 over, Clarke drilled the highest BBL score ever and the side jumped to a score of 163-3 after 18 overs. 

Clarke crossed the century and MLS posted 183 runs with a loss of 5 wickets.

For the run chase of 184, McDermott and D Arcy came to the middle on the bowling strike of Boult. In the 3rd over from Boult, McDermott bought the first four for the side and got to a score of 25 after 3 overs. 

Scoring 17 runs in 11 balls, McDermott lost his wicket to Luke Wood. Fueling 15 runs in 15 balls, Arcy Short also got a dismissal from Zampa. After 7 overs, the side crossed the half-century with a score of 52-2. After 10 overs, HBH jumped to a score of 75-3. 

Fueling 35 runs in 35 balls, Wade lost his wicket to Coulter-Nile. After 14 overs, the side crossed the century, standing at a score of 106-5. In the 17th over, Neesham and David smacked three boundaries. 

Scoring 16 and 24 in 11 and 17 balls, Neesham and David respectively lost their wickets to Luke Wood. 

Hobart Hurricanes scored 145 with a loss of 9 wickets and lost the match to Melbourne Stars by 38 runs.
