The 56th match of BBL was played between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne. Sydney Thunder won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Joe Clarke and Thomas Rogers came to bat first and opened the inning for Melbourne Stars. On the other hand, Gurinder Sandhu started the bowling attack. Joe Clarke opened the boundary account with a four and got out on the next ball.

Melbourne Stars lost their wicket early, and they lost three wickets in the power play. Joe Clarke(4), Kellaway(13), and Stoinis(8) returned to the pavilion. After 6 overs, MLS was 35-3. Daniel Sams took his 100th BBL wicket.

Thomas Rogers took a single, and his team scored 50 runs. After 12 overs, MLS was 78-3. Thomas Rogers got out after scoring 35(36) runs. Webster reached his team to 100 runs with a four in the 16th over. In the 18th over, Webster got out after scoring 14(14). In the 19th over, Cartwright and Coulter-Nile got out.

In 20 overs, Melbourne Stars scored 114 runs with a loss of 7 wickets.

Matthew Gilkes and Warner came to chase, and Liam Hatcher started the bowling attack. Warner got out after scoring 2(3) in the second over. Matthew Gilke opened the account with a four in the third over, and he hit one four in the same over. In the powerplay, Sydney Thunder lost two wickets and scored 31 runs.

Sydney lost their batter consistently, and they lost 6 batters till 15 overs. Matthew Gilkes got out after scoring 20(27), Oliver Davies(9) got out in the 10th over, and Cutting ran out after scoring 9. After 15 overs, SYT was 82-6.

In the last 5 overs, Sydney thunders required 38 runs, and Sams hit back-to-back two fours in the next over but got out after scoring 28(18). In the last two overs, thunders required 10 runs, and McAndrew hit a winning four. Sydney thunders scored 120 -7 and won the match by 3 wickets.
