Bangladesh and Ireland came against each other in the 1st ODI of the series at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. Ireland won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das came to bat and Mark Adair opened the bowling attack. Litton Das hit a four on the second ball and it was the first boundary of the match. Tamim Iqbal got out after scoring 3(9) in the third over. In the 10th over, Litton Das started the over with a four and got out on the third ball after scoring 26(31). Shakib took a single on the fourth ball and Bangladesh reached 50 runs. After 10 overs, Bangladesh was at 50-2.

In the 17th over, Shanto got out after scoring 25(34) on the third ball. In the 20th over, Shakib took a single on the fifth ball and scored 7000 runs. In the 21th over, Towhid Hridoy hit a four and Bangladesh reached 100 runs. In the 30th over, Towhid Hridoy took a single and Bangladesh reached 150 runs. Shakib took a single and scored a half-century. After 30 overs, Bangladesh was at 155-3.

In the 35th over, Shakib smashed five fours and Bangladesh reached 200 runs. In the 36th over, Towhid Hridoy took a single and scored a half-century. In the 38th over, Shakib got out after scoring 93(89). In the 42th over, Bangladesh reached 250 runs. In the 46th over, Mushfiqur hit a four and got out on the next ball after scoring 44(26) and Towhid Hridoy got out after scoring 92(85). In the 47th over, Bangladesh reached 50 runs. In the 48th over, Taskin Ahmed got out after scoring 11(7). In the 50th over, Yasir Ali run out after scoring 17(10).

In 50 runs, Bangladesh scored 338 runs with a loss of 8 wickets.

Chasing 339 runs, Stephen Doheny and Paul Stirling came to bat and Mustafizur Rahman opened the bowling attack. In the 3rd over, Stirling hit a four and it was the first boundary of the match. In the 10th over,  Doheny hit smashed three boundaries and Ireland reached 50 runs. After 10 overs, Ireland was at 51-0.

In the 11th over, Doheny hit two fours and got out after scoring 34(38) in the next over. In the 13th over, Stirling got out after scoring 22(31). In the 15th over, Tector got out after scoring 3(8). In the 16th over, Balbirnie got out after scoring 5(12) on the third ball. In the 18th over, Tucker got out after scoring 6(8). In the 23rd over, Ireland reached 100 runs. In the 24th over, Campher got out after scoring 16(17). After 25 overs, Ireland was at 113-6.

In the 26th over, Delany got out after scoring 1(7) on the fifth ball and Andy McBrine got out after a duck. In the 29th over, Mark Adair got out after scoring 13(11) on the last ball. In the 31st over, Dockrell got out after scoring 45(47). Ireland got all out at 155 and lost the match by 183 runs.
