Bangladesh Premier League:  Comilla Victorians Defended Their Title Defeating Sylhet Strikers by 7 Wickets

It’s the final game of the BPL 2023 wherein the defending champions, Comilla Victorians, and Sylhet strikers squared off. Comilla Victorians 4–1 Sylhet Strikers, according to the outcomes of their past five encounters. The Strikers, who were trying to win their first championship, had to defeat a team they’ve lost to frequently, a team that is defending the title, and a team they lost to four days ago before coming back to beat the Riders and advance to the championship game. Since the odds were heavily stacked against them and in favor of the Victorians, they had to battle against the odds.

Comilla Victorians won the toss and opted to field first. Sylhet Strikers showcased a classy batting skills. A first inning full of action, for sure! Mushfiqur Rahim was the star performer, scoring 74 off 48 balls and continuing to bat until the very end to help his team surpass 170. In 20 overs, Sylhet put 175-7. The Strikers, though, really shouldn’t have even come close to that total. The Victorians were, at best, unremarkable and utterly hopeless in the field. They may pay for it later since they put down more catches than they took. Shanto continued his great performance from earlier in the season for the Strikers, and he was the only other hitter to stand out with the bat.

In response to this, the Victorian openers swiftly jumped out of the gate, setting the tone. As Litton Das maintained his strong form and produced another quick half-century, Johnson Charles’ 79 off 52 deliveries was the game-changer. Despite his slow start, Sylhet had little control over him once he got rolling. They’ll be upset, especially since they put Charles to sleep too soon. They suffered because Tanzim Hasan, who bowled so well during the competition, was surprisingly pricey as well. The Strikers ultimately fall short in their bid to win the BPL for the first time, and the Victorians celebrate their fourth BPL Title by winning the final by 7 wickets over and defended the title.
