At the end of the first day, England was at 315-3, and Joe Root & Harry Brook were on the field. The rain stopped the match, and the umpire had to call the day off.

Joe Root and Harry Brook resumed the batting, and Matt Henry started the bowling at the start of day 2. In the 67th over, Root smashed a six, and the partnership between Joe Root and Harry Brook reached 300 runs. Harry Brook got out after adding only two runs to his score, and Mat Henry took his wicket. He scored 186(176) before getting out.

England reached 350 runs in the 72nd over. Stokes got out after scoring 27(28) in the 75th over. Foakes came to bat and got out on duck. Broad got out in the 80th over after scoring 14(17). After the Brook wickets, the English batter couldn’t hold on to the crease and got out.

In the 81st over, Root smashed back-to-back two boundaries, and England reached 400 runs. Robinson got out after scoring 18(29) in the 86th over. Root hit a four and scored 150 runs, and Stokes declared the innings at 435-8.

New Zealand openers Latham and Conway came to bat in the first innings, and Anderson opened the bowling attack. Anderson struck in the first over, and Conway returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs. Williamson got out after scoring 4(5) in the 5th over. Latham hit a four in the 7th over and it was the first four of New Zealand’s innings. After the end of the first session, NZ was at 12-2.

Will Young got out after scoring 2(9) in the 9th over, and it was the third wicket for Anderson. In the 11th over, Nicholls hit two fours. New Zealand reached 50 runs in the 17th over. Latham got out after scoring 35(76) in the 21st over. Daryl Mitchell came to bat and started with a four. Nicholls hit back-to-back two fours in the 23rd over. Nicholls got out after scoring 30(38) in the 25th over, and it was the 5th wicket for New Zealand. Mitchell got out after scoring 13(39) in the 33rd over. After the end of the second session, NZ was at 96-6.

Bracewell hit four, and New Zealand reached 100 runs. He got out after scoring 6(9) in the 36th over. Southee hit back-to-back two boundaries in the 40th over. Once again, Rain came, and the game couldn’t continue. Umpire called the day off, and New Zealand was at 138-7 and trailed by 297 runs.
