On the grounds of Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, the captains of both the teams came up to begin the AFG vs SL match where Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first.

Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran unveiled the batting strike on the bowling strike of Rajitha. In the first over, Gurbaz smacked a boundary for Afghanistan and lost his wicket early and the right handed batter, Rahmat Shah took the batting charge.

Scoring 22 off 30 deliveries, Shah lost his wicket to Rahmat Shah. With Zadran and Shahidi on the pitch, the batters crossed the half-century with a score of 51-2 after 13 overs. Zadran kept drilling fours, the side reached a score of 78-3 after 19 overs.

After 25 overs, Ibrahim Zadran reached his 50-run stand and the team score shifted to crossing the century, 112-3. After 34 overs, Najibullah Zadran also joined him to reach his 50-run stand; team score – 176-3. Hasarana gave a breakthrough and dismissed Najibullah, restricting him at a score of 77 off 76.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Zadran made 100 runs which was his 2nd of the series and third of the ODI career. Fueling a huge score of 162 in 138 balls, Ibrahim Zadran lost his wicket to Asitha Fernando.

In 50 overs, Afghanistan posted a run score of 313 at a loss of 8 wickets.

For the run chase of 314, Nissanka and Kusal came to the middle on the bowling from Fazalhaq Farooqi. In the 3rd over, Nissanka bought the first boundary for Sri Lanka, getting to a score of 10 after 3 overs.

Kusal Mendis and Nissanka smacked multiple boundaries and SL jumped to a score of 40 after 9 overs. On the throw from Mujeeb, Mendis drilled three boundaries with a score of 54 after 10 overs. Scoring 67 in 61 balls, Mendis lost his wicket to Nabi.

With Nissanka on the pitch, Sri Lanka crossed the century with a score of 104-1 after 19 overs. After 27 overs, SL scored moved up to 137-3 after 27 overs. Fueling 33 off 32 deliveries, Chandimal got a dismissal from Nabi.

Getting a huge score of 43 in 44 balls, Shanka got out to Rashid Khan and the right handed batter, Wanindu Hasaranga took the batting charge, jumping to a score of 145-5 after 42 overs. Meanwhile, Asalanka got to his 50-run stand.

In the 49th over from Gulbadin, Wellalage nailed 3 boundaries that led their score to 301 with a loss of 6 wickets.

With Asalanka standing tough against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka won the match by 4 wickets.
