T20 World Cup 2022 is on the way and India will supposedly head into the mega event to bag the title again. The T20 World Cup 2021 was not very promising for team India as they faced back-to-back losses against Pakistan and New Zealand. Cricket enthusiasts have high hopes from the team to bring the crown glory home in T20 World Cup 2022.

Instead of Virat Kohli, the Indian team India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Along with this, he also has the responsibility of selecting the best 15 players to play for the T20 World Cup 2022. This blog entails cricket news for India about the players who can turn away their route post T20 cricket world cup.

Let’s take you through this blog to unveil the names of the grandeur of the Indian cricket team.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Gabbar of team India has drawn out his name from T20s. There is a high probability that he may be excluded from the T20 World Cup 2022 and hence, are high chances of him announcing his retirement from this particular format of cricket.

Due to a swatting competition in the cricket world, it took a bit more time for Dhawan to come into the limelight. An unprecedented run score of 505 in 2004 in the U-19 World Cup shot him to fame.

In T20s, Shikhar Dhawan has played 68 T20Is for India, scoring 1759 runs while hitting 11 fifties. This particular cricket update India might not be very appreciated by fans and followers of Shikhar Dhawan.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin

The astonishing off-spinner has contributed to India’s victory very often but his performances are not much satisfactory in the T20 format of cricket. In the recent series against the West Indies, he couldn’t draw eyes on him. Possibly, he may not be in the squad for T20 World Cup 2022, considering his recent and past performances. Resultantly, he is likely to announce his retirement from the T20 cricket format.

R Ashwin has delivered 6156 balls, scoring 7131 and taking 279 wickets down in the T20 cricket format.

3. Mohammed Shami

Shami has emerged as a key player in the Indian cricket team after being snubbed from the U-19 selections. After a commendable set of performances in domestic cricket matches, Shami is an eminent name in the Indian squad to play even the international matches.

Shami made his T20 debut in 2014 against Pakistan in Shere Bangla National Stadium. In 2021, he played his last T20 format facing Namibia on the ground.

In recent times the fast bowler got to play Test and the ODI series against England. The last world cup performances were not satisfactory and hence, it is highly unlikely that he will be selected to play this year. It may motivate him to announce his retirement from this particular form of cricket.

4. Axar Patel

This left-arm orthodox spinner has been a member of team India’s ODI and T20I squads in the last two years. He is still not a regular member of the team, resultantly, he is less likely to play in such a mega event. Thus, he may consider retirement from T20s.

Axar Patel debuted in his T20 career in 2015 against Zimbabwe. Recently, he appeared in a T20 cricket match with West Indies in August 2022.

5. Virat Kohli

This may shock cricket fans but there has been a talk regarding the form of Kohli and chances are very high that the skipper may announce retirement from T20Is to extend his ODI and Test career. Kohli made his debut in T20Is in 2010 against Zimbabwe. He holds the record for most matches (68) as captain in 6th place and 7th place to score most runs (256) on the losing side.

Despite being the best batsman around the world, he may be more suited to ODI and Test cricket matches.

Performing in each format of cricket can wear out the batter and retirement may lose some pressure, allowing him to focus on ODIs and Test matches. Being a tough batter, the retirement of Kohli may fade the spark of the team with his retirement.

The cricket news for India about losing their favourite players to the T20 pitch is quite upsetting for cricket lovers. The performance is the king and the ones suited for the role should be given the chance.

However, most of the top players have paved their way to settle in other formats but some may mark down their names due to recent performances. Indeed, this is shocking Indian cricket team news for cricket fans.

Leaving behind the cricket pitch, these players would be idols for the upcoming cricketers. To get quick cricket team news, stay with us.
